EDGED was a one-night performance that took place on Tuesday 24th, November 2015 at the Grace & St. Paul’s Church. A collaboration project with the physical theater company, the UME group as part of their social action projects. The piece explores the notion of territories and borders, their role in the construction of identity and the notion of home contrasted with their power to grant, limit or deny the right of mobility. The negotiation between these two dynamics has been and still is critical for society. The UME group explores the limitation of a confined space through the practice of the Japanese dance theater, Butoh. The performers, which appeared almost like stone statues were dependent, limited and blended with their territory. EDGED is a participatory experience in which the audience was encouraged to connect, compare and ultimately experience borders.
